South County Health’s commitment to exceptional patient care is at the heart of what we do. By supporting the growth of our dedicated staff, they are able to support our community. Read about Kace Quinn, Medical Staff Coordinator, and the programs and relationships that have supported his roles on the South County Health team.
Making Education Affordable: Leveraging Tuition Reimbursement
“I started working at South County Health in September 2012 as a dishwasher in the Dietary department. I later applied to work as a part-time Cashier. I worked in Dietary over the next five years. During that time, I was also a student at URI. A great perk about working at South County Health was that it allowed me to utilize tuition reimbursement, which made college more affordable.”
Navigating Career Transitions: From Behavioral Specialist to Telecommunications Operator
“After graduating from URI in 2017, I worked as a Behavioral Specialist at the Groden Center and continued to work per diem at South County Health. I returned full-time in 2018 as a Telecommunications Operator.”
Seizing Opportunities: A Testament to Career Advancement
“Returning to South County Health allowed me to utilize tuition reimbursement again to pursue graduate school, as well as provide my wife and I with excellent benefits. During that time, I met with Human Resources and discussed various internal career advancement opportunities. In November 2019, I applied for a position in the Medical Staff Office as a Credentialing Specialist. I held that position until December 2022, when I was promoted to Medical Staff Coordinator.”
Empowering Growth: Utilizing Internal Resources and Committees
“Employment at South County Health allowed me to grow professionally in various ways. I have utilized the resources available through Coastline EAP to take courses in leadership and communication. I have also been able to participate in various internal committees such as Employee Council, Caring in Crisis, and the Holiday Planning Committee.
When I returned to South County Health full time in 2018, I was appointed the Co-Chair of Employee Council. I later assumed the role of Employee Council Chair in 2022. I am grateful for my experiences working at South County Health and look forward to a long and successful career here.”
Guidance Along the Way: Mentors and Supportive Leadership
“I have had various mentors during my time at South County. Human Resources has always been supportive of my growth within the organization and has helped me utilize various benefits (i.e tuition reimbursement) as well as coached me on various career paths. I greatly appreciate the leadership and guidance offered by Maggie Thomas, VP, Human Resources and Kevin Charpentier, MD, Chief of Medical Staff, and the Medical Staff Officers. Maggie Thomas has been extremely helpful throughout my entire career at South County Health. Our collaboration through Employee Council has allowed me to grow as a leader and provided me with multiple opportunities to share creative and meaningful experiences with the organization. I also greatly value Dr. Charpentier’s partnership and support as I continue to grow as a Medical Staff Services Professional. His leadership and guidance have been instrumental to my success.”
Setting Sights Higher: Future Certification Goals
“Tuition reimbursement, generous paid time off and access to incredible (and affordable) health benefits have made a huge difference for my family and I. My ability to grow within the organization has also been a great perk. And with the opportunities available, the sky is the limit! As I pursue future opportunities within the organization, I am confident that South County Health will continue to offer guidance and support.”
Commitment: What Keeps Kace at South County Health
“My career path has not always been direct or decisive. However, my story demonstrates that through time, access, and hard work you can achieve anything you set your mind to. If you’re a college student or recent graduate, you can rest assured that South County Health will provide you with the tools and guidance to grow in a professional setting, including career advancement opportunities, access to incredible benefits, and positive workplace culture.”
Beyond Work: Family, Homeownership, and Hobbies
“My wife and I are new homeowners! Our 3-year-old son Ryan is the best part of our lives; it’s an honor to be his Dad. Most of our time outside of work is spent with our family and friends creating meaningful experiences and memories or hanging out at the beach. I also enjoy playing guitar and listening to music too.”
