Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Interprofessional Clinical Education (IPE) Specialist supports the application and implementation of interprofessional education initiatives, strategies, and actions for IPE passport program in general, and specifically supporting the implementation of initiatives related to IPE in clinical placements, aligning with QU Health’s vision. They collaborate with QU Health colleges and the IPE Office to develop clinical placements while facilitating early clinical exposure for students. The specialist organizes professional development for preceptors, track student and preceptor participation, analyze data, and support research and benchmarking to enhance program effectiveness and ensure alignment with international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work in partnership with QU Health colleges and programs to assist in the application and implementation of interprofessional education initiatives, strategies, and actions in general, and specifically supporting the implementation of initiatives related to IPE in clinical placements.
  2. Work in partnership with the Office of IPE program to support in the development and implementation of IPE clinical placements.
  3. Actively create and facilitate opportunities for early exposure to the clinical environment for QU Health students during their experiential learning.
  4. Support the different initiatives by the IPE student association.
  5. Contribute to the QU Health IPE committee.
  6. Serve as a resource person to faculty, staff, and students on IPE curricula requirements.
  7. Organize and offer various professional development programs for preceptors and IPE facilitators.
  8. Develop and main a database to track student and preceptor participation in IPE clinical placements.
  9. Analyze the statistical data of the different IPE initiatives as well as to prepare periodical reports, and provides data analysis and reporting as needed.
  10. Assist in the coordination, supervision, and completion of special IPE projects as appropriate.
  11. Contribute to collaborative research on interprofessional education and collaborative practice and share findings and insights with the broader academic and clinical education community.
  12. Periodically conduct benchmark exercise on IPE to ensure the program offered is evidence based and in line with international standards.
  13. Work collaboratively with QU health colleges to monitors the effectiveness of IPE to determine quality and impact on the different QU Health colleges‘ curricula, suggest and implement improvements.
  14. Provide support for simulation-based learning to enhance students’ clinical education experiences.
  15. Manage the financial aspects of IPE in clinical placement. Ensure that budgets are carefully planned and aligned with program goals.
  16. Assist with special projects and identifying training needs involving IPE program development, administration and articulation.
  17. Perform other tasks and duties that may be occasionally required in order to meet the requirements of the role and the aims of the University.

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

MSc or equivalent in health-related fields

Languages

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual (Arabic/English) skills preferred but not mandatory.

Experience and workshops and Job requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in interprofessional education.
  • Knowledge of instruction and teaching methods needs assessment needed for IPE.
  • Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and faculty development is an asset.
